Placeholder is Hiring an Analyst

Placeholder is a venture capital firm that works with entrepreneurs and decentralized information networks to better distribute data, wealth, and power. We can be found at https://www.placeholder.vc/

We are seeking a highly motivated Analyst to join our team for a 2-year term. As an Analyst, you will work under our Head of Research, Mario Laul, to analyze private companies, public networks, and emerging trends in our industry. You will also regularly interface with the Partners – Brad Burnham, Chris Burniske, and Joel Monegro – on deal and portfolio-specific items.

Candidates must already be conversant in crypto to work at Placeholder – while you will learn from us, we’ll also be looking to learn from you. You will be our most active boots on the ground, attending an array of crypto events to help us stay abreast of the global development of our industry.

The ideal candidate is not only conversant in crypto, but has a technical background, is comfortable with independently deriving insight from data, and looks forward to being public-facing. You must be able to both work independently and in a team context – we work remotely, but have a preference for someone looking to base out of NYC, Lisbon, or Berlin.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on private companies, public networks, and emerging trends in our industry

  • Stay up to date and assist portfolio companies and networks as requested and relevant

  • Field inbound investment opportunities and source quality teams at the frontier of our industry

  • Engage with relevant communities through Twitter, Telegram, Discord, Friend.Tech, etc.

  • Attend conferences and crypto events across the globe

To begin the selection process, we’d like a copy of your current resume or CV, and  2 videos from you:

  1. 60-second video on why you want to work at Placeholder, specifically

  2. 60-second video on the cryptoasset, or private crypto company, you would most advocate for investing in right now

All applications must be received by October 20, 2023. From the initial video submissions, we will select a smaller group of applicants for live interviews, and then a set of finalists from there.
